Drake & Scull Qatar has been awarded a US$83.5mn contract for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works for a real estate development project in Doha

The project is expected to cover substructure and superstructure works within a 260,000 sq m built-up area, encompassing three superblocks with various structures such as residential buildings, schools, utilities, offices and retail buildings.

Karem Akawi, area general manager at Drake & Scull Qatar, said, ?The gradual roll-out of the ambitious infrastructure development programme related to Doha?s hosting of the World Cup in 2022 and the Qatar National Vision 2030 is a key factor that is driving market growth. In addition, there is also the rail side that is coming on stream ? another priority project of the government that is part of our target areas.?

?The MEED Qatar Conference surely serves as an excellent venue to showcase our strengths and strategic advantages to support the unprecedented infrastructure work that is being carried out across Qatar,? added Akawi.

The company further revealed that it would be showcasing its high-profile projects and sharing key insights on emerging industry trends during its participation at the MEED Qatar Conference 2013, taking place from 17-20 February 2013.
