HLG awarded contract to develop infrastructure at Kizad

The Habtoor Leighton Group has been awarded a contract for US$71.6mn to construct Area A?s secondary infrastructure of Abu Dhabi?s Khalifa Industrial Zone (Kizad)

The construction is for Abu Dhabi Ports, stated the HLG. The company, which is operating as Leighton Contracting Abu Dhabi LLC, will be responsible for the construction.

The scope of construction spans 52 sq km and includes dual and single road networks, associated traffic signals, streetlights, signage, sewarage networks and pumping stations, storm networks and their pumping stations, portable water networks and fire hydrants, process water networks, telecom networks, LV and MV networks as well as associated 11kV sub-stations, said HLG.

The company also said that it would engage in extensive dewatering, excavation, pipe-laying and road construction works for the project.

HLG, which has been involved in other construction projects on the Khalifa Port and Kizad in the past, will begin working on the current project in July 2015 and complete it by March 2017.
