USA?s Ford Motor Company is expanding operations in Morocco, by setting up a regional sales office in Casablanca and a purchasing office in Tangier

In addition, Ford is also planning to introduce to North Africa seven new vehicles and will more than double the amount of parts it purchases from the region?s suppliers.

Specifically, Morocco?s supplier network will receive a boost as it will provide parts to Ford?s assembly plant in Valencia, Spain.

According to Ford?s MEA president Jim Benintende, Morocco is a ?great place to do business? as it has a skilled and motivated workforce. ?It has a growing automotive supplier ecosystem, access to ports, free and fair trade agreements and a very pro-business mindset,? he added.

Morocco?s minister delegate to the minister of industry, trade, investment and digital economy, Mamoune Bouhdoud said, ?We are proud to partner with a multinational company like Ford to grow its business in Morocco and are very pleased it has selected Casablanca and Tangier as locations for its North African sales and purchasing operations. We are confident that Morocco will benefit greatly from the economic impact of Ford?s presence.?

The American company has invested US$2.5bn in its Valencia assembly plant, and in order to support production across the Mediterranean, the number of parts Ford will source in Morocco and North Africa will increase exponentially, revealed Benintende.
