FCC-led consortium to build a part of Doha Metro

Citizen Services Group FCC has been awarded a contract by the Qatar Railways Company to build a section of Doha Metro red line for US$702.3mn

The winning consortium led by FCC also comprises Archirodon from Greece, Y?ksel from Turkey and Petroserv Limited from Qatar. This is reportedly FCC?s largest project in Qatar till date.

The project will be completed in two years and seven months. Three elevated stations at Barwa Village, Al Wakrah and Qatar Economic Zone, and a 6.97km section of rail will be constructed. The road at the entrance to Al Wakrah will be tunnelised as well, stated the consortium.

According to reports, the budget for the Doha Metro project exceeds US$27bn and extends for 354km. Doha Metro will connect major sites in Qatar like the Education City, West Bay, Lusail, Hamad Bin Khalifa International Airport and the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).

This project comes just six months after FCC bagged a contract to build three lines of the Riyadh Metro for US$8mn.
