King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE) has launched a national cadre development programme under the uranium mining project in central Jordan
Jordanian Atomic Energy Commission and Jordanian Uranium Mining Co will jointly conduct the one-year programme.
As reported in the Saudi Press Agency, the first batch of Saudi trainees to Jordan includes 13 uranium exploration and mining experts, who will train national cadres in the exploration of uranium ore and uranium oxide (yellowcake) production.
The uranium mining project is in line with Saudi Arabia?s National Atomic Energy Project that aims to meet the growing demand for sustainable national development as targeted under the Saudi Vision 2030.
Highlighting the importance of the initiative, Dr Khalid Al-Sultan, president of KACARE, stressed the positive impact of the national cadre development programme in developing skills of employees in the regional mining sector, noted the source.
Saudi Arabia is steadily boosting the country?s alternative energy resources with an aim to reduce pressure on non-renewable hydrocarbon resources to achieve sustainable power production. The country is further seeking to produce power from desalinated water to reduce consumption of fossil fuel reserves.
