State-of-the-art manufacturing facility to produce pumps, among other technologies, and provide localized and integrated services to local, regional customers

Xylem, a leading global water technology company dedicated to solving the world?s most complex water issues, today inaugurated its new manufacturing facility in Jebel Ali, Dubai. The new 19,000 sq. metre facility, the company?s first in the region, will produce some of Xylem?s industry-leading pump brands and provide integrated services and support to Xylem?s customers across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). As part of the inauguration, Xylem Middle East also launched the Flygt Concertor, the world?s first wastewater pumping system with integrated intelligence.

The state-of-the-art pump manufacturing facility and the new rental and services business, which was unveiled last week, will serve the growing demand from the construction and infrastructure sectors, as well as municipal customers, across the MENA region. The inauguration took place at the new facility in Jebel Ali and was attended by Xylem President and CEO Patrick Decker, along with other corporate executives, partners, and VIP guests.

?The Middle East and North Africa region has always been a priority market for us,? said Steve Leung, Senior Vice President and President, Emerging Markets ?The new manufacturing facility is part of the US$35mn investment we?re making in the region and will provide our customers with more high-quality, efficient services and products?.

?The manufacturing facility represents the beginning of our long-term commitment to working with local partners and governments to help solve their most complex water challenges,? added Leung.

One of the products to be launched at the new facility is the Flygt Concertor, a new smart, interconnected wastewater pumping system from Xylem?s Flygt brand. The pumping system senses the operating conditions of its environment, adapts its performance in real time and provides feedback to pumping station operators.

Earlier this year Xylem announced a US$35mn investment to expand its operations across the MENA region. The expansion plan, which will continue to be executed through 2018, includes investment in a number of facilities across the region, including the pump manufacturing facility, a pump rental and services operations, and offices in Saudi Arabia, Oman and Qatar. Further investment will be made into expanding business service offerings designed to provide customers with smarter solutions to their water technology needs.

?As we continue building and strengthening our capabilities in the region, we do so with our customers and their needs in mind,? said Vincent Chirouze, regional director, Xylem Middle East & Africa. ?Each milestone achieved over the last few years has helped us to deliver on our promise to provide customers with an expanded portfolio of high quality, energy-efficient products and services. The manufacturing facility will provide regional customers with the same high quality products as our other facilities deliver to customers throughout the world.?
