Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) will build a 150mVA sub-station to strengthen the supply of electricity to Dubai Airport Free Zone

The sub-station and ground cables, linking the station network, will cost nearly US$23mn and US$9mn respectively, DEWA stated.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director of DEWA, said, ?To become a sustainable world-class utility, we are strengthening our infrastructure and service facilities as per the highest international standards. This is to meet the basic needs of the people and business community to further establish Dubai as a global economic hub.?

The ground cables have been extended by 6.9km to link the main sub-station, with the 132/11 kV sub-station in Al Bustan and the 132/11 kV sub-station in Al Qusais. This will further enhance the efficiency and reliability of DEWA?s networks across vital growth areas and ensure continuity and stability of supplies to different consumers at all times, according to the company.

?These stations feature the latest digital technology, which will strengthen the reliability and efficiency of the stations, and eventually support Dubai?s constructions plans and ambitions for economic growth,? Al Tayer added

DEWA currently has 20 132/11 kV sub-stations under construction.
