Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has announced that it has won a US$473mn contract to build power substations in Qatar

The Indian company said that its power transmission and distribution business arm has secured the deal from Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa).

According to the contract, L&T will be responsible for supply, construction and commissioning of 18 substations and 151km of cabling, which is a part of the Qatar Power Transmission System Expansion Phase XI Stage I project.

The project is scheduled to be completed in 22 months with the substations being built to augment the existing power system network to cater to growing infrastructure facilities, the company added.

SN Subrahmanyan, senior executive vice-president (Infrastructure & Construction), L&T said, ?This order, won against stiff global competition, reconfirms L&T?s leadership position in this sector at GCC. It also aligns well with L&T?s expansion plans in the international arena.?
