Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd (MHPS) held a technology seminar in Kuwait, highlighting gas turbine combined-cycle power generation systems

The conference was in line with the government?s aim to significantly reduce its dependence on oil and drive diversification of the power sector. As the electricity demand is increasing, natural gas becomes the fuel of choice to provide a reliable power solution in the country.

The event showcased technologies that are changing the energy landscape. It further illustrated how the precision engineering of MHPS gas turbines are expected to enhance low-cost wind and solar energy supplies.

Speaking at the event, Mohammad Boshehri, undersecretary for electricity and water in Kuwait, stated that the government aims to develop a clean energy landscape in the region, achieving power beyond carbon.

In addition, as a supplier of equipment and services to the power generation market, MHPS is deploying new technologies in Kuwait?s power sector to develop local talent through a close partnership.

Akimasa Muyama, chief technical officer of MHPS, said, ?Kuwait?s electric power sector is currently in the midst of transformation. Replacing oil-fired plants with natural gas or renewable energy will reduce or eliminate carbon. The increase in renewable energy requires addressing the issue of power system stability.?

MHPS? gas turbine technologies and digital solutions are expected to ensure stable energy supply for Kuwait, he added.
