Go Green In The City students to discuss projects at event

Two students from Masdar Institute who have competed in the sixth edition of 'Go Green in the City' hosted by Schneider Electric, will be hosted at the Schneider Electric Offices in Dubai on the 4th September 2016. The event shall take place in the presence of Benoit Dubarle, Country President of Schneider Election. The two students have been selected among the top 12 final teams who were whittled down from an initial 1,180 global teams that submitted in April.

The competition is to come up with an intelligent idea for the efficient energy management in a city environment. It had to consider the challenges related to growing cities and energy dilemmas, and it had to be an innovative solution.

Chairman and CEO of Scheider Electric, Jean-Pascal Tricoire has promised what they call Life Is On. "The change in our world is more profound than ever, driven by a new scale and speed of urbanisation, digitisation, and industrialisation. New technologies, enabling for the first time distributed and connected energy, challenge us to redefine the way we live. We believe access to energy is a basic human right. We want everyone on our planet to have access to reliable, safe, efficient, and sustainable energy. At Schneider Electric, we are committed to innovate solutions that address this energy paradox, balancing our planet?s carbon footprint and supporting the undisputable right of everyone to quality energy. As the global leader in energy management and automation, we provide connected technologies that will reshape industries, transform cities, and enrich lives."

Eligible students had to be studying either business and/or engineering from second year Bachelors to Masters level. The students will need to be in two teams and feature at least one female. Although they had to be studying in the same company, they did not have to study at the same institution. The final twelve teams, who have each one their respective regional stage of the competition will be hosted for an all expenses paid final in Paris at the end of September 2016.

The twelve team finalists are; Anemoi from Fachhochschule Aachen, Germany, Cyclicity from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Canada, DeLight from Azerbaijan State Oil Academy, Green Dreamers from Xiamen University, China, Green Link from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Holoenergy - energy for all from Universidade Federal de Vicosa in Brazil, Scarf from Universitas Indonesia, SolarWay from Masdar Institute in UAE, Spartans from Pandit Dwarka Prasad Mishra Indian Institute, Team Achievers from Dedan Kimathi University of Techology in Kenya, The Mavericks from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India, abd Xponential from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

All these finalists will recieve a digital certificate for winning the semi final for their region and a momento from the Go Green in the City competition, as well as the final trip to Paris.

The winner of the competition will recieve an opportunity to work for Schneider Electric and win a world tour, whilst visiting the two Schneider offices and meet influential members of the organisation.
