The consumption of district cooling, which can reduce power consumption by up to 50 per cent, is on the rise in Dubai, say industry leaders.
Emirates Central Cooling Corporation (Empower), the largest district cooling service provider in the region, has said consumption of district cooling provided by the company rose by 45 per cent in July 2010, compared to the same period last year. Company bosses said the increase shows that Dubai is becoming increasingly aware of the importance of using the systems as an alternative to conventional AC systems. The result is that more companies are saving energy and lowering their costs.
?New buildings like the Dubai international Financial Centre and Tecom which have been added to our portfolio have fueled this increase,? said Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.
