Black & Veatch chosen as EPC consultant for Jeddah 4 desalination project

USA?s engineering consultancy Black & Veatch has been chosen by the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) to be the engineering and design consultant the Jeddah 4 desalination project in Saudi Arabia

Mazen Alami, managing director of Black & Veatch Middle East, said, ?An augmented water supply is central to the prosperity and continued development of Jeddah. SWCC, through critical infrastructure projects such as Jeddah 4, has proved highly effective in addressing the Kingdom?s water requirements. Our experience with large-scale desalination projects around the world will help the corporation serve the needs of Jeddah?s growing populace.?

Black and Veatch?s services would augment water supply to Jeddah, which is the Kingdom?s second largest city. The project, titled Jeddah 4, would create a 400 mega litres per day reverse osmosis (RO) plant in the city and cater to a population of five million, stated officials from Black & Veatch.

Jeddah 4 would be tendered on an engineer, procure and construct (EPC) basis. Black & Veatch will be responsible for studies of site and adjacent sea conditions, conceptual process and engineering design, and preparation of tender documents. When completed, Jeddah 4 would be among the largest desalination plants in Saudi Arabia.
