Having been awarded a major project to work on water treatment plants in Saudi Arabia?s Waad al Shamal City, Byrne Looby Partners (BLP) has big plans to expand its business in the Middle East
The international engineering services company BLP will be responsible for the concept design for water and waste water treatment plants at the King Abdullah project, which makes up 'Phase 1A' of the development planned on the 440 sq km industrial city.
BLP director of water services Sam Murdock said, ?The water sector in Saudi Arabia is a very important and interesting sector for us and we look forward to working with others to continue to develop water and infrastructure services for the Kingdom.?
Working alongside leading engineering service provider Radicon Gulf Consult Kentz (RGCK) on the project, the new commission is part of BLP?s aim to strengthen its business in the surrounding Gulf countries.
Having opened its first office in the Gulf in Jeddah back in 2009, BLP has built up a strong presence in the region, with the Middle East now accounting for a third of the company?s annual turnover. BLP has worked on numerous water and infrastructure projects, such as the Hodariyat Bridge and Marina in Abu Dhabi and the Lusail Expressway in Doha, Qatar.
?The company is quite young and we?ve expanded rapidly in the last number of years and we?ve done so organically,? explained Murdock. ?We have had a very good reputation for efficient and clean designs and that?s allowed us to develop very quickly.?
In addition to its current offices in Saudi Arabia as well as in Qatar, BLP recently unveiled its new office in Dubai, which will act to further develop the company?s presence in the Middle East.
In light of the new base, BLP has appointed two new roles for the Dubai office: regional business development manager Ronan Duffy and senior project engineer Mohammed Nimeri.
The current BLP regional director Dubai Mike White said, ?The opening of the Dubai office is a further signal of BLP?s ambitious growth plans in the region and the significant opportunities which exist for our company in the Gulf States.?
