The leak detection will be done out of Pure Technologies' Abu Dhabi office, stated company officials. Kahramaa has been actively fixing leaks across its ever-expanding water pipe network for the past 30 years and, acorrding to authorities, the non-revenue water for distribution networks has been reduced over the past five years due to advanced methods and best practices.
With this in mind, Pure Technologies' SmartBall technology is going to be utilised for pipelines between 600mm to 1600mm in diameter during the contract period. SmartBall technology is a free-swimming inspection technology designed to operate in a live pipeline, locating small leaks, gas pockets, and identifying structural defects. This technology has been used in projects worldwide and is also being used in a growing number of oil and petroleum product pipelines.
