Saudi Arabias Ministry of Water and Electricity has signed 20 water and sewerage projects worth US$164mn
Saudi Arabia has been planning to expand its sewage networks and hopes to cover 70 per cent of its urban areas by 2019, according to reports.
The first contract for taking potable water to Al Kharj in Riyadh is worth US$127mn and the second contract, worth US$9mn, is to maintain and operate the purification plant and supply networks at Hafr Al-Batin and Qaysuma.
The new project contracts also include laying of water supply networks in various locations in the Qassim project and collecting well water. Other projects include laying sewage pipeslines in Abha, water supply to the southern side of the Abha city, construction of feeder lines and storage tanks in the Northern Borders province, as well as laying sewage water lines in Riyadh province and Tabuk.
