Saudi Arabia?s Marafiq Power and Water Utility Company has contracted South Africa?s Doble Engineering Company to provide consulting and training services for best quality transmission and distribution
According to the contract, Doble Engineering is expected to provide a comprehensive review of Marafiq?s operations and maintenance practices, work on an extensive transmission and distribution equipment technical training, work on understanding gap analysis against ISO 55000 requirements, provide reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) coaching and facilitator-assessments, and an asset management certification course that is designed to prepare employees to pass the Institute of Asset Management (IAM) Certificate in Asset Management examination.
The Saudi Arabian power and water utility aims to improve grid reliability through the project. Doble Engineering is expected to work in tandem with the Marafiq team and will provide apparatus specialists to support the project. The team will also collaborate with The Woodhouse Partnership Limited, which was instrumental in bringing about the PAS 55 standard, which is the British Standards Institution?s (BSI) publicly-available specification for the optimised management of physical assets. PAS 55 was the basis for development of the ISO 55000 standard.
Upon completion, Marafiq will be positioned as a cost-effective and sustainable asset management programme, said Doble Engineering officials.
