Empower has finished connecting Dubai Design District (d3)?s district cooling system

The cooling services provider, a joint venture between Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone (TECOM), announced the completion of the first phase of the cooling network this week.

Work on phase one of d3?s cooling network began in November 2014, with the system now providing cooling services with a capacity of 10,000 Refrigeration Tonnes (RT).

Empower CEO H.E Ahmad Bin Shafar, said, ?With the rapid commissioning of d3?s district cooling systems, we at Empower have demonstrated our commitment to providing world-class support to Dubai?s ever-growing roster of real estate developments.

?Because of the size and sophistication of the d3 network, we consider this project as one of the most important ventures that Empower has been involved with.?

The district cooling method entails the centralized production and distribution of cooling energy, via chilled water delivered through underground pipelines to cool the indoor air of the buildings in the district.

Specially designed units in each building then use the water to lower the temperature of air passing through the building's air conditioning system.
