Impregilo has won a US$130mn contract from the Public Works Authority of Qatar to construct a storm water drainage tunnel in Doha
The project will involve the construction of a main 9.5km water collection tunnel measuring a diameter of 4.5 metres, as well as the installation of 21 access shafts.
The Italian building company said in a statement that the excavation of the tunnel would be executed using two tunnel boring machines and added that the project was scheduled to be completed with a four year timeframe.
The system has been designed for the collection of both surface water and groundwater in Doha.
