State-owned Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada) has awarded Arabtec Construction a US$898.5mn contract to build a new hospital in Al Ain, which will help improve healthcare amenities in the emirate?s eastern region
The contract was signed by Musanada chief executive officer, HE Mohamed Khalifa Al-Fahed Al-Mehairi and Arabtec board member Tareq Abu Shreehah.
Covering a build area of 358,000 sq m, the new 713-bed hospital with 104 specialised clinics would replace the existing facility in Al Ain.
Arabtec said the project has been scheduled for completion by 2018. The company is involved in a similar project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where it is building the Aldara Hospital and Medical Centre.
Arabtec managing director Hasan Abdullah Ismaik said, ?This new award is in line with our strategy to expand into specialised, high-margin areas of construction. The new contracts in Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia confirm our status as a partner of choice for construction of ultra-modern healthcare facilities in the region. We are well positioned to capitalise on the huge investments in healthcare across the GCC.?
